Native Culture

The primitive knows how to converse with his  soul.

Carl G. Jung

Mitoludens (Brasília-DF) and The Guardians Eco-Retreat (Serranópolis-GO) were honored to  have celebrated the Brazilian national day of indigenous people with a workshop on Traditional Kayapo Body Painting with artists from the Moikarakô  Aldeia (PA).

Kayapo native people, dear people
Of a great artistic refinement
In all the  five senses.
Warriors they are.
Immense force of character
Without loosing their
gentleness and grace,
high spirits
and
art!

On April 2007 Mitoludens hosted two Kayapo families. For three weeks we had a full engagement and re-connection with our indigenous soul in an inspiring atmosphere of body-painting meditation where our spirits went dreaming. Late, one night, we departed to Aldeia of the Guardians (Serranópolis-GO, 600Km from Brasilia) to immerse and extend such experience in a sacred traditional Indigenous site. There were intense sunny days and starry nights around the fire. It was very special to be together with the Kayapó people recognizing the theme of their paintings among many of the up to 12,000 years old cave paintings. Unforgettable days of ritualistic songs, walks and baths were spent in this once Kayapo homeland. The Kayapo were the last indigenous people who have lived in the region!  What a beautiful re-connection and a beautiful returning.

They will be back next year

To envision

Paint, sing, dance and dream the poetics of life and nature.

Mitoludens was baptized by the Bakairi Traditional People celebrating the maize with songs and dance.
